Changes to the Pole's Card in 2022

On July 29, 2022 (14 days after publication, or effectively from August 1), a bill came into force, according to which it will be possible to obtain or renew the Pole's Card in every voivodeship in Poland.

Previously, this was only possible in Lublin, Bialystok and Biała Podlaska, as well as outside Poland.

Citizens of Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia, as well as stateless persons enjoying this status in these countries, are eligible to obtain the Pole's Card.

You can submit an application through the Biuro Podawcze. For example, in Warsaw, you can do this at Marszałkowska 3/5 by appointment at https://kolejka-wsc.mazowieckie.pl/ (letter A).

From January 29, 2022, those who have at least one parent, grandparent or grandparent who holds a Pole's Card can receive the Pole's Card.

One parent and their minor child may submit an application simultaneously. Once the parent receives the Pole's Card, the process of obtaining the Pole's Card for the child automatically begins.

The presence of the second parent is no longer required to obtain consent for a child's Pole's Card. Such consent can be obtained from a notary.

Children of deceased parents, one or both of whom held a Pole's Card, may, upon application by one of the parents or a guardian, receive a Pole's Card.

An application for renewal of the Pole’s Card can be submitted 6 months before the card’s expiration date (for adults);

In case of loss or damage of the Pole's Card, the consul or voivode, at the request of the owner of the Pole's Card, issues a duplicate.

Despite the suspension of processing applications for cash benefits for Pole's Card holders residing in Poland submitted after January 18, 2022, applications are still being accepted. The estimated processing time is one and a half years.

You must apply for financial assistance no later than three months after submitting your documents for permanent residence. To do so, you must complete an application and have a notarized copy of your passport and Pole's Card.
